... in North Carolina!

 Va relatez un caz:

"About 3-4 weeks ago, I have been to the DMV office from Maneo,NC, in order to apply for a Learner's Permit. I am not a resident of U.S. I have a valid Passport , with an expired visa, but because I am student in US (since January 2007), I also have a letter from INS extending the expiration date, the I-797 form valid and also the I-20 A-B form, valid until 2010. I have showed this documents, and also a bank statement, the SSN card but I was refused by Officer Manning. I left the office taking with me the DMV`s handbook available there and at home I checked the NC DMV`s website. So I find out the I have the right to apply for the Learner`s Permis, and went back to the Maneo, at the DMV`s Office to ask again. Another officer on duty, a lady. She told me that I am right, and I CAN apply. So I went home to prepare for the test. Today, May 09, 2007 when I went to the office, Officer Manning refused me again. I showed him the handbook, I told him that the other officer told me that I CAN APPLY, and he refused me again, telling me that I can`t because he looks at the visa from the passport. "

Raspunsul lor: "our system requires the visa foil number and an unexpired visa date taken from the visa which is affixed to the passport in order to issue. Although you may have papers extending your time of stay due to your school enrollment, we are not allowed to take those documents at this time.  Therefore, if your passport visa has expired you will not be eligible until such time as you can present a certificate of naturalization or citizenship, a renewed US visa attached to the passport or a permanent resident card.  If you have any further questions feel free to contact me. "

si un alt raspuns, de la un birou central:

"The law states that you cannot apply for a license if you are not a resident of North Carolina. The law also states that you present a valid visa issued by a US Government agency or a social security card. If you do not meet these requirements you will not be able to apply for a license. In this state driving is not a right but a priviledge. We are unable to use any other immigration documents at this time to issue a license. I apologize for the inconvience."

Aveti vreo idee cum se iese din incurcatura asta?

 

Fie gaseste un SoS in NC unde lucratorii nu sunt batuti in cap, fie se duce in alt stat, obtine acolo permisul, si apoi doar il transfera in NC.

Cei de la birourile DMV sunt cei mai prosti oameni care i-am intalnit vreodata. Birourile de evidenta a populatiei din Romania au un IQ mediu pe cap de angajat dublu dupa parerea mea. Primele mele 3 vizite la DMV au fost insotite de greseli din partea lor pentru care eu am tras ponoasele. Prima data am fost sa incep procedura sa imi fac permis de conducere si dupa ce le-am spus ca sunt strain, am completat formularul pt permis de conducere si am vorbit cu 2 persoane (una la birou de informatii si una la ghiseu) au sfarsit prin a imi face ID card fara sa imi spuna ca imi fac ID card si nu permis de conducere. Eu ma asteptam sa ma indrume sa dau testul scris, dar ei au tras concluzia (habar nu am cum) ca eu vreau ID card. Am ramas stupefiat.

Pana sa  ajung sa trec si proba practica si la mine in Wisconsin au introdus treaba cu imigrarea pt permisul de conducere/ID card. Culmea este ca nici doamna de la informatii nici supervisoarea centrului habar nu aveau sa citeasca o forma I94 pentru studenti. Am facut taraboi fara niciun succes, cica era treaba mea sa ma duc la biroul de imigratii nu a lor. Am mers a 2-a zi si am urmat procedura standard (nu le-am mai aratat la aia de la informatii pasaportul), iar la ghiseul care se ocupa de procesarea propriu zisa a cererii era o tanti care chiar stia ce trebuie sa faca, avea un dosar intreg cu toata documentatia.

 Sfatul meu este acelasi, mergi la alt centru al DMV sau la acelasi centru dar in zile diferite. Poate ai noroc.
